How I Got Two Free Turkey Calls
Good karma! Free stuff!
Do I have your attention? :)
I am a big advocate for joining the organizations that work hardest to support shooters and hunters. That's why I'm a member of so many organizations, like the NRA and USA Archery. Last year I joined the National Wild Turkey Federation, in large part because of the effort they put into outreach and education. I have zero regrets on my decision to join NWTF, especially because I love turkeys and turkey hunting!
The NWTF at a national level does a ton to study turkeys and promote turkey habitat development in the USA. Their magazine is full of info on turkey habitat and advice on successful turkey hunting techniques. The NWTF social media pages are updated frequently with inspiration and tips. At the local level, the NWTF members I've met are all super generous and fun people, ready to give advice and take newbies hunting. So when I got my renewal notice to join NWTF I didn't hesitate to re-up my membership.
Joining NWTF feels good - it helps conserve turkey habitat and connects me to a community of likeminded hunters, scientists, and conservationists. This is the "feel good" part of this article.
Now for the "Free Stuff" Part
After I paid my $35 annual membership fee, I got to choose a complimentary gift. One of the options was a $25 gift card to Bass Pro Shops. Sweet!
Here's where the part about "free turkey calls" comes in.
Bass Pro Shops has a Hunters' Specialties H.S. Strut call package for $19.99 retail. The "Raspy Old Hen" call package comes with a pot call and a diaphragm call - two calls for one price. When you add in $4.95 economy shipping, the total comes to $24.94 - just $.06 shy of the $25 gift card value. This means you buy an annual membership to NWTF, get all the perks that come along with it (like feeling good about conservation!), PLUS two free turkey calls. That, my friends, is called WINNING.
No, I am not affiliated with Bass Pro or H.S. Strut, other than by the fact that I used my complimentary Bass Pro gift card to buy a H.S. Strut call, because it cost me $0 after buying my NWTF membership. I'm still trying to learn how to use a diaphragm call, but the Raspy Old Hen slate call works like a charm!
There You Have It
Join the NWTF and your support of turkey conservation could get you two turkey calls!
