Destination Gun: Traveling to Firearms-Related Sites Around the World

In this series, I will share destinations I've visited that relate to firearms. Look around - these sites are everywhere!

If you find yourself driving through Missouri on I-44, it is worth your time to stop at the Bass Pro Shops flagship store in Springfield. There's a ton to see - and the displays are frequently changing to keep it fresh. When I visited in September 2015, they were getting ready to expand the former Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium. The store already had so many water features and fish to see, I am definitely interested in going back to see what they put on display!

Beyond fish, they've got a ton of other things to see. Taxidermy galore, the NRA Small Arms Museum, an upscale cafe with wild game on the menu, plus tons of hunting gear and guns... So much to see and do! I captured what I could of my experience on my iPhone. I promise its even better in person!

What you see when you first walk in - wow!

I like big bucks and I cannot lie

Hemingway's Cafe is upstairs in the flagship store, with wild game on the menu! I tried gator and wild boar, and enjoyed the aquarium view while I ate

Epic taxidermy and more fish! In the background is their two-level hunting gear section, where it seemed like endless items to try on, compare, and of course buy

The staircase leading up to the NRA Small Arms Museum, featuring a microcosm of the guns on display at the National Firearms Museum in Virginia. I know I'd love an entrance like this!

1903 Springfield's and generations of shooting medals - just a fraction of the many guns on display at the NRA Sporting Arms Museum!

There is something for everyone at the Bass Pro Shops flagship store. Check it out if you are able!
